In severe allergies pure honey can be applied in the eye like an ointment 3-4 times in a day. It feels stingy initiallly and causes slight redness of the eye which settles down in a few minutes.

Honey may sometimes contain dormant endospores of bacterium" Clostridium Botulinum" which can be dangerous to infants.These endospores can transform into toxin producing bacteria in the infant's immature intestinal tract.This condition is called "Infant Botulism",which may lead to illness and even death.This does not take place in a mature gut,so,we should be very careful in giving honey to infants.
